In a Perfect World

Have you heard about my new non-profit?  I'm thinking of calling it Moms 4 Showers.  It will be our goal to somehow insure that every mother is guaranteed at least one uninterrupted shower a day, complete with time to wash your hair AND shave your legs.  Here at M4S, we believe that every person deserves a shower.  Showers are no longer just for men and single people!  We are working hard to raise tomorrow's doctors, teachers, presidents, criminals and musicians, so why do we have to fight so hard for what we deserve?  Mothers unite!  Stand up and DEMAND your daily shower!  If we can band together and accomplish this goal, we can accomplish anything-like putting an end to pony tails or getting a regularly scheduled day off!

One Whole Month

Wow. I can't believe that Stella is a month old today.  So, how are we adjusting to change in the Pohlman household?  For the most part, things haven't changed much.  Stella is an easy baby to take care of.  She sleeps at night and she only cries when she's hungry (which is almost always).  I think she needs to make up for the time she was asleep, so some days, it seems like all I do is nurse her.  I'm OK with that, though.  She's just so sweet and cuddly!

As for the kids, they are all on different ends of the spectrum when it comes to how they feel about their new sister.  Corrina likes her well enough.  She's kind of indifferent.  Kennedy is absolutely smitten with her.  She spends all day hovering over her trying to take care of her.  George, however, is a different story.  She's having a very hard time.  George has always been demanding and needy and now that there is somebody new cutting in on her time, she isn't taking it very well.  She is slowly getting better, though.  Some days, though, it seems like all I do is take deep breaths and count to ten...or 50...or 100.  It is a good thing that as our family grows, so does my patience.

Compared to the madness after George was born, things are pretty calm and uneventful around here.  Dare I say...almost easy?  I know I'm probably jinxing myself by saying that.  I am also aware that as a result of writing this, Stella is almost guaranteed to stop being content and stop sleeping at night.  I'll have to risk it, though because I can't just stop bragging about her!

Chickin Scratch

Summer is almost here!  For us, that means the empty lot across the street will become our garden.  This is where my husband and children will spend most of their time.  I love that the girls get to participate in the whole process, starting with an empty field, watching the plants grow and eventually ending up on their dinner plates.

In celebration of this change of seasons, I'm giving away a Chickin Feed Trackin' Mat and Primer.  These are also great tools to help teach kids about food, make them aware of what they eat and get them to participate in meeting their nutritional needs.    I bought them for Corrina and absolutely love them.

Here's how you can win.  Leave a comment and tell me your favorite summertime dishes made with your fresh produce.  Tweet!  Say anything you want about the giveaway and The Drunken Housewife.  Lastly, you can share this giveaway with your friends on Facebook.  Remember, if you tweet or share on facebook, make sure you leave a comment letting me know that you did.

You have until Monday May 30 at 11:59 pm CST to enter.  A winner will be chosen randomly.  Please be sure to leave your email to ensure that I will be able to contact you.

Chickin Feed has no idea who I am.  I am not being compensated for this giveaway.  You can check out the Chickin Feed here.  You can also follow them on Twitter or like them on Facebook

A Week of Writing

Here are Corrina's journal topics for this week:

MONDAY-What is the best thing you did in school this year?

TUESDAY-What do you like best about your home?

WEDNESDAY-Describe the oldest person you know.

THURSDAY-What is something you dislike about yourself?

FRIDAY-If there were no rules, what do you think would happen?

SATURDAY-If you could be on any game show, what would it be?  Describe what happens on the show.

SUNDAY-Write a story titled "My Journey on a Pirate Ship".

Here is a favorite from last week.  "Describe the youngest person you know"

Corrina wrote:  "The youngst erson I know is named Stella.  She is my sister and here is how I describe her, she has brown hair with two beautiful blue eyes, her skin color is peach.  She is really little."

On Turning Four

Today, Kennedy turns 4.
I have to say, she is probably the sweetest, most sensitive and loving little girl ever.

She is our little mother.  She takes care of everyone and everything.  She is absolutely smitten with her new sister and wants so badly to be able to take care of her.  She loves to cook and help clean and nurses her baby dolls.

She loves to watch movies.  Peter Pan is her favorite.  She has an imagination that doesn't quit.  I never know what we'll be doing or who we'll be playing with.  I try not to act too surprised and be supportive when she very seriously tells me that lime stew is her favorite food or when she pretends to deliver babies from her dolls.

For Kennedy, there is always time to stop and pick flowers.

Happy birthday, Kennedy.  I hope you will always find the world as magical as you do now.

A Week of Writing

If you have started a journal with your kids like Corrina and I have, you may be looking for topics to have your children write about.  I've decided that on Mondays, I'll start sharing our list of topics for the week.  Feel free to follow along or pick and choose as you please.

Monday-Would you want to visit the moon?  Why or why not?

Tuesday-Imagine you woke up and saw a dinosaur in your back yard.  Write a story telling what you see and do.

Wednesday-How old were you 4 years ago?  Describe some things you can do now that you couldn't do then.

Thursday-Do you think a monkey would make a good pet?  Explain why or why not.

Friday-Tell something that made you very happy today.

Saturday-If you could have any pet, what would it be?  Describe the pet and how you would take care of it.

Sunday-What would you do if you found a magic wand?
